Come to Malaysia

Swinburne students are invited to complete an Industry Study Tour to Malaysia (12.5 Credit Point – Elective) where you will get the opportunity to intern with a host organisation. This allows you to develop employability skills and enhance your global mindset. Together with your fellow students, you will gain insight into organisational and institutional relations, employment initiatives; and cultural, environmental and social similarities and differences.

Working as an intern with partner organisations, you will identify challenges, innovate solutions, and seek opportunities to develop long term connections which allow you to strengthen your graduate employment outcomes. This is a life changing participatory, cross cultural, and educational skill sharing program. Click here for information on how to be successful with completing an internship while completing your studies.

Students will be matched with host organisations in Malaysia. Some industry internship areas include, but are not limited to, the following:

All Industry Study Tours have undergone a rigorous pedagogical development approach, where the student is at the centre of the learning for employability skill development. As part of the unit structure, two supportive face-to-face workshops are provided to help students prepare for their in-country learning experience and to bring the learning home. Additionally, Career Development is also an important factor concerning the overall design and delivery of all Industry Study Tour units for students.

Grants and Scholarships

Swinburne has 20 x $3000 New Colombo Plan grants to award to eligible students studying Business, Accounting and IT who apply for the Industry Study Tour to Malaysia. In addition to this $3000 grant, students experiencing significant financial disadvantage may be eligible for scholarships. This extra funding has been made possible by the Commonwealth Department of Education Higher Education Participation Program (HEPP). All HEPP scholarship applications will be assessed on merit.
