Getting ready for the Future Leaders Program to China

There are 24 million people in my home country Australia, there are 20 million people in Beijing alone. I’m Ash, I’m a full-time employee and full-time student, and in 2 and a half weeks I’m going to be flying to China with the Future Leaders Program to experience something wholly new. I’ll be blogging about my experiences for Swinburne’s Industry Study Tours.

I expect to be challenged, awed, delighted, exhausted, and I expect to be confronted by pollution and crowds like I never have before. I expect to gain a new perspective, and experience a small portion of a country with one of the most ancient cultures and history in the world. And I expect that I will encounter some problems when I tell people, “Wo bu chi rou, wo chi su” (I don’t eat meat, I’m vegetarian).

I’m excited to meet the group tomorrow in the first workshop and find out who I will be sharing this rare experience with. Women zou ba! Let’s go!

Now if we could just get our visa’s approved…
